Role Summary/Purpose:
The Lead IT Analyst Mainframe Operations is knowledgeable in mainframe systems technology and will act as liaison between application development /support teams and the mainframe systems third party provider to deliver infrastructure changes and provide production support. In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting production problems for critical business functions and defining and delivering infrastructure changes as needed to meet business requirements and service levels.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Establish knowledge of GE Retail Finance mainframe environment and application systems
  • Ensure GE Retail Finance mainframe environment is highly available at all times
  • Work with application development / support teams, other infrastructure teams and the mainframe systems third party provider to deliver hardware and software upgrades and infrastructure changes needed for business and IT projects
  • Provide technical direction and support in troubleshooting mainframe production issues on a 7x24 environment
  • Utilize and apply your command of mainframe technologies in providing oversight of mainframe third party vendor activities
  • Establish and maintain effective peer-to-peer relationships across IT areas (applications, infrastructure, operations, etc) to support effective IT implementations
  • Participate in disaster recovery preparation and testing
  • Work with infrastructure and application teams to deliver productivity and cost reduction; extract data from RMM, SMF, etc to provide required reporting
  • Provide input into mainframe capacity planning and engage in mainframe tuning activities as assigned
  • Execute GE Retail Finance change management, incident management, root cause analysis and project estimation processes as required
  • Maintain GE Asset Repository hardware and software inventory to reflect systems changes
  • Execute GE Retail Finance mainframe processes as needed such as storage and CPU monitoring, and business chargeback data collection
    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • 5 years of experience working in Mainframe Systems maintaining or supporting operating systems and systems products
  • 1 year experience in mainframe software such as Z/OS operating system, JCL, and Connect Direct

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

    Desired Characteristics:
  • Strong knowledge of CA-7/11, CA-Dispatch, File-aid and Abend-aid is a plus
  • Previous experience or strong knowledge in use of ACF/2 is a plus
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with application developers, vendors, clients and other IT infrastructure professionals
  • Bachelors Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or other related technical field
  • 5 years working in Mainframe Systems maintaining or supporting operating systems and systems products
  • Previous success working with third party outsource providers
  • Strong team player - collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
