SUMMARY
Accountable for the daily management of equipment and materials utilized by Respiratory Care. Reviews and analyzes data and develops reports. Coordinates equipment and materials, assuring presence, location and availability. Acts as a member of the Value Analysis Committee. Collaborates with other members of the health care team in order to ensure continuity and coordination of services. Acts as a resource to staff, managers, and other departments related to area of specialty.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE, LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION
Associate's degree in business, operations, or other related healthcare field. Three years' experience in inventory management or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Project/process improvement experience. Previous experience utilizing material management software preferred.
Computer skills including Microsoft project, Word, Excel. Skilled in vendor and sales representative communications. High degree of confidentiality. Attention to detail. Time management and organizational skills. Able to manage multiple priorities, projects, and requests simultaneously. Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Self directed. Ability to make quality, independent decisions. Analytical and strong problem solving skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear conversational voice. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be independently mobile. Able to lift up to 60 pounds. Potential exists for frequent bending, pushing/pulling loads.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Normal office environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following:
Assures all equipment, materials and mechanical ventilatory devices are available and ready for use.
Analyzes data to maintain appropriate inventory levels and reorder points. Reviews inventory daily at all locations. Analyze monthly reports to identify low usage items and facilitate the removal of them in conjunction with purchasing.
Liaison for contractors, reviews contracts, makes recommendations on vendor selection, equipment, etc.
Responsible for establishing and maintaining equipment, materials and device locations within the departments.
Coordinates the ordering/purchasing of approved specialty/non-stock items for the Respiratory Care Department, in collaboration with team members. Maintains knowledge of current and prospective products, organizing trials, collecting and analyzing evaluations, making recommendations for change in equipment purchases to the team.
Coordinates with Central Services the cleaning of equipment and materials.
Develops and generates reports and distributes to appropriate people, monitoring information for accuracy and completeness.
Aggressively seeks and recommends cost savings possibilities based upon new sources, substitutions, improved systems, or new technology.
Communicates, collaborates and acts as a consultant to staff, management, other departments, vendors, and members of the health care team in order to educate and ensure continuity and coordination of services.
Coordinates preventive maintenance program for equipment, and routine infrastructure repair.
Works collaboratively with others to identify opportunities for standardization of products in the department and across the organization. Investigates alternative sources for items that have been depleted in coordination with the clinical lead therapists and Supply Chain Management.
Networks with other hospitals/suppliers in order to obtain equipment/supplies on an emergency basis, as needed.
Ensures that processes and services are continuously monitored for quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency. Engages in process and quality improvement activities. Makes and implements recommendations to improve operational efficiency and to implement new services for areas of responsibility. Works to establish and maintain 5S tool for Respiratory Care.
Ensures that patients, their families, visitors, customers, and employees are treated with kindness and respect. Demonstrates teamwork and integrity in all work-related activities. Ensures that work performed supports Spectrum Health's mission.
Demonstrates knowledge of hospital safety and infection control policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment.
Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation / compliance requirements.
Performs such individual assignments as management may direct. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the organization. Provides information to senior levels of management on the implication of policies and procedures being formulated and recommends specific action.
Performs other duties as assigned.
