Job Description
Role Summary/Purpose: Serves as key IT liaison & process expert in IT network and telecommunications; Plans and manages upgrades and changes to technologies in the network and telecommunications layers; Responsible for program budgets and/or cost centers, resource allocation and planning to ensure delivery of business benefits; Responsible for vendor evaluation & integration of new products and services into the network
Essential Responsibilities: - Lead the Core service team of 8 telecommunications professionals.
- Drive initiatives in partnership with the GE businesses and teams to provide the highest performance and lowest cost solutions.
- Provide technical leadership in assigned technology areas, including the following: enterprise internetworking, Telecommunication Tools and Data Center network
- Design and implement the Company's network infrastructure globally and assure that the network design is reviewed periodically to maintain an optimal price/performance.- Create design standards and specify network solutions (templates) to meet the GE businesses' requirements.
- Test, evaluate and certify telecom equipment and telecom services for GE
- Provide direct technical and engineering project support to the GE businesses for their specific requirements.
Qualifications/Requirements: - At least 10 years of IT infrastructure or related IT experience.
- At least 7 years of hands-on experience in telecommunications or network engineering.
- In-depth knowledge, at least 10 years in Telecommunications systems/service, LAN switch technology (including large scale LAN network, STP, VTP domain management), and network test methods and equipment.
- Hands-on experience in some of or all of the following areas: IP QoS, VoIP, converged IP multimedia applications such as teleconferencing or content delivery network, IP network directory services, authentication services, Wireless, IP Firewalls, IPS, NAC, Internet proxy, network optimization/acceleration controller, load-balancer.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in an efficient manner.
- Strong project management skills (min 5 years) leading broad Network or related IT initiatives from initiation to implementation

- Advanced technical or industry certification(s) in Telecom Services
- Six Sigma certification
- Ability to manage a multi-vendor WAN, multiprotocol routing, including but not limited to NHRP, EIGRP, BPG4, OSPF, and IS-IS.
- Strong team player - collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources; has experience working with others on a global basis; applies knowledge to coach and mentor others
